Sarah Emilie Brøchner Pettersson

Junior associate Sarah Brøchner Pettersson specializes in the drafting of wills, pre- and postnuptial agreements and agreements of joint ownership for unmarried cohabitants, cases regarding division of property in connection with divorce and the dissolution of cohabitation, and child abduction cases.

She has experience representing clients at the Probate Court and with the administrator of the marital estate, in enforcement proceedings, and in Family Court regarding custody and enforcement cases.

Sara has a particular interest in cases with international elements, and have experience in cases involving questions of jurisdiction, choice of law, as well as situations where the client or a party resides abroad.

She is particularly interested in how new family structures and cross-border family life interact with Danish family law.

Education and training

Sarah graduated with a Master of Laws (cand.jur.) from the University of Copenhagen in June 2023, with her thesis titled "The Possibility of More Than Two Legal Parents in Danish Family Law" in the field of Specialized Family Law.

In addition to the subjects of Family and Inheritance Law and Specialized Family Law, Sarah took the course "Comparative Family Law" during an exchange program at The University of Hong Kong, gaining a deeper understanding of how family law differs and interacts across borders.

She has been employed at BFA LAW since March 2022, initially as a student and as a junior associate since September 2023.
